I found a website which has the audios and a pdf of the famous Mawlid which is recited in Yemen. We can however in our homes do a monthly traditional Mawlid to create the effect. In our region, such gatherings are shunned or lets say discouraged. Places on earth which praise Him and His beloved become fragranced, honoured and those circles become energy centres.

Circles of praise are described as heavenly gardens. The Mawlid as we know is a blessed practice. The above is all discretional, however, once a month is highly recommended. Many families who have revived the tradition have made it a point to conduct weekly Mawlid with one’s immediate family and one Mawlid a month with community members. If one lives alone, then to conduct a solo Mawlid is better than none at all. In many localities, it may not be possible to gather others due to multiple factors, hence the minimal requirement is to do Mawlid with one’s house hold members, children included. If there was one tradition we could suggest to all seekers to revive, it would be Mawlid weekly and if not, once a month. However some scholars have allowed the use of Daff (small drum). The latter two terms can describe any type of religious poetry.Īnasheed or Naat usually is not accompanied by musical instruments. In the Arabi language, Naat is usually referred as Madih (praise), or simply as Nasheed (poetry) or Anasheed (plural). Commonly the term Naat-Shareef (Exalted Poetry) is reserved and used for the poetry in the praise of Muhammad written in Urdu,Persian, Arabic and also in Punjabi.
